B&B Claercamp situated in the Dokkum countryside:
“There is a lot to see and do in and around Dokkum today, but also during the Leeuwarden-Fryslân 2018!”
B&B Claercamp is a residential farmhouse located in the countryside surrounding Dokkum. The B&B takes its name from a former monastery, which used to be situated here until it was demolished in 1580. It is a very special place with a panoramic view across the meadows, surrounded by nature and offering a lot of privacy and tranquillity. It is, however, not an isolated place: you can reach Dokkum within 5 minutes by car and Leeuwarden, the Cultural Capital 2018, is only 15 minutes away.
We offer 3 cosily decorated rooms equipped with every comfort and a private bathroom. Near the central entrance, you will find a fully equipped kitchen with oven and microwave for common use. Our Finnish sauna can be found near the ground-floor room, it has a nice place to sit outside and cool down. From here, you can enjoy the great view over the meadows populated by sheep, goats, cows and/or horses throughout the grazing season.
Enjoy your breakfast in your own room: we deliver it at the desired time to your door in a basket. You’ll have time for a relaxed start of the day while planning your trip during a leisurely breakfast. Interested guests may visit the small museum dedicated to the Claercamp Monastery housed on our property. The museum opens during the weekends (1 PM to 5 PM).
Completely unwind or check out the activities in the neighbourhood. The beautiful surroundings are perfect for guests who like biking or hiking. We would of course be happy to give you some tips and details about routes. Why not make a ‘wadloop’, a trip across the Wadden Sea’s tidal flats? Take a guided tour across the flats of the Wadden Sea, a unique World Heritage site and an amazing experience!
A day trip to the Wadden Island Ameland and/or Schiermonnikoog National Park is also highly recommended. A 45-minute boat ride will take you there and you will dock in a completely different landscape with forests, beaches, meadows, dunes, picturesque villages and, of course, the sea. In this region, you will also find Lauwersmeer National Park. This is a beautiful, forested nature reserve with hiking and biking tracks, a beach, fishing port and restaurants.
And let’s not forget Dokkum! Wander around freely, check out authentic little shops, great restaurants with nice terraces or museums, or take a canal ride. And don’t forget Leeuwarden, the Fryslân capital and Cultural Capital 2018, another Frisian must-see that is well worth your while!
